New Business Venture

Today I finally decided to make a big change in my life. I decided to go for it and start my own business. I have always had a passion and interest in different body products. I am nearly obsessed with feeling good and smelling good at all times. It only made sense for me to start making my own natural products and to ditch the products that were wreaking havoc on my skin.

My oh my! What a revealing change. Why didn't I do this sooner? Is what I ask myself almost every day. I feel as if I have been living in the dark this whole time! Do you ever have that feeling that something that you do maybe can be done simpler but you just don't take the extra time to do it or stop doing what is monotonous? Yep! One day I finally just said, enough is enough! And I made the changes...It was a lot easier than I imagined it would be to go through all of my cabinets and drawers to throw out all of my name brand products, And today I am so thankful that I did. I am more conscious of labels, more conscious of what products I use. It was revealing to me to realize how many different product brands I actually had for the same exact thing! Why does someone need 2 different dryness creams or 3 different toners? It is just ridiculous and a waste of money. What if there was one product that someone could use to achieve the same result? And what if that product was also crafted using premium, organic ingredients with an amazing scent?? This is where my thinking began.

So my journey started with research. Yes! Research! Not the funnest thing to do if you’re talking about school but it was a necessity and actually quite fun! When I realized how easy it was to develop my own body scrub, face scrub, soaps, and lotions, I knew I was on the right track. I began developing my own special recipes, crafting, testing, succeeding and even failing. My family members and close friends were great guinea pigs for me and I began to arrive at the right recipes. As I reached my optimal satisfaction for each product, then my business began to form. I started making body scrubs and face scrubs, then bath bombs and eventually, I taught myself how to make candles which turned into a separate line -- Home Care. It wasn’t always easy, there were times when making bath bombs when I wanted to give up. It was just too hard and finding the right recipe and mixture of ingredients was not an easy task. There were times, where I would toss batches and batches of ingredients because they were mixing well. It was a tragedy at that moment but it has allowed me to grow into a more confident and smart creator and business person.

Whenever I hear a speaker or influencer say, “Never Give Up on Your Dream” or “Follow Your Dreams” Or “Don’t Let Anyone Tell You No”....It seems so cliche and monotonous. It’s like “yeah right!” It’s easy for them to say because they are already at their dream, but in all actuality it is true. If you take it day by day and step by step you can achieve whatever you set your mind to. At those times where I frustrated and wanted to give up, I did at that moment give up BUT I went to sleep, rested my mind and the next day or the next day I tired at it again. I believe that is the most important part of what speakers are really trying to say. Of course, you don’t want to keep pushing yourself until you break, there has to be a balance. And you are the only one who knows where that balance lies within yourself. For me, I have to put the creative spoon down for a day or two if I am feeling defeated. Then I can come back later with a clear mind and fresher outlook.

All in all, I am excited about this new, big step in my life. A business that I can call my own and take with me wherever I go. I am looking forward to continuing to expand my Skin Care and Home Care Lines more and more each day, month, and years to come!
